[Eril-l] Database usage metrics

Hi,

I realise this discussion was a couple weeks ago, but I thought it may be worthwhile responding.

Currently we record searches and views for our databases. I have to login to each separate vendor site to obtain our stats which can take up to half a day to do, as we have over 90 subscriptions. We are implementing Encore Duet soon (Note: Encore Duet is a III Product that integrates with Sierra and EBSCO’s EDS). We were hoping we could retrieve our stats from one place, i.e., from EDS Admin. I was advised by Ebsco that accessing stats this way would only record use of databases that were accessed through Encore Duet. This means I would still need to login to each vendor site to access our stats as some databases will be accessed from the database interfaces on our website too.

I’d be interested if anyone has this same issue.

Thanks

Subject: [Eril-l] Database usage metrics

I would like to know what metrics other libraries are using to report database usage, especially those using a discovery service. Has your library moved away from propriety reports and moved to Counter 4 or using a mixture of both for any given vendor?

Traditionally we have recorded sessions and searches but are over inflated with implementation of discovery product and no longer helpful. As a result, looking to adopt full-text and abstract views and possibly some Counter4 metrics.

Realize this is not a new problem and your situation and metrics provided and used can vary based on database vendor and discovery product.

Thanks!
