Job Description:
•	Perform original and copy cataloging according to the standards for
print and non-print formats following Consortium for Academic and Research
Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) guidelines for use of Library of Congress
(LC) classification, LC subject headings, and MARC21.
•	Maintain the library's CARLI Integrated Library System (ILS) cataloging
client, module, and related software including OCLC Connexion and
cataloging toolkits in coordination with the library's CARLI liaison. 
Perform batch loading of large record sets.
•	Produce catalog collection reports using appropriate software.
•	Incorporate local, regional, and consortial webinars, workshops, and
forums into ongoing staff training, supervision, and evaluation.
•	Represent OCC and participate in statewide professional development
activities
•	Coordinate the library's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP)
functions and serve as the point of contact with the U.S. Government
Publications Office (GPO).
•	Work in collaboration with appropriate colleagues in the creation and
maintenance of digital collections and digital exhibits, including
supplying metadata.
•	 Performs original and adaptive metadata creation for digital
collections and exhibits utilizing CONTENTdm and other software as
appropriate.
•	Maintains knowledge of current metadata standards and best practices and
participates in developing, teaching, and implementing metadata policies
and procedures.
•	 Work collaboratively to provide effective library services for the
college community.
•	 Develop and monitor all budgets associated with areas of responsibility.
•	 Lead or participate in special projects.
•	 Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
•	An ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library/Information Science.
•	Three years of library experience including original and copy
cataloging, staff supervision and training, and cataloging and digital
archive systems administration.
•	Thorough knowledge of academic library cataloging and metadata standards
and consortia guidelines.
•	Familiarity with Federal Library Depository (FDLP) collection rules and
regulations.
•	Experience in setup, maintenance, and policy development in OCLC and the
CARLI consortial ILS.
•	Experience with cataloging toolkits such as Cataloger's Desktop, RDA
Toolkit and MarcEdit is preferred.
•	Demonstrated knowledge of MARC and non-MARC metadata formats, standards
and schema (e.g. Dublin Core, METS, MODS, EAD, etc.).
•	Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with
ability to work effectively with colleagues, staff and users.
•	Understanding of and commitment to diversity and cultural competence.
•	 Excellent planning, project management and problem-solving skills.
•	 Must be able to travel and attend meetings at offsite locations.
•	Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of
different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences,
and to exhibit an adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the
College community at large.

Additional Information:
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
Salary: $46,982 annually
Physical Demands:
Moderate lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Ability to reach above
shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling,
bending and stooping. Mobility to move from building to building on-Campus
and to visit off-Campus entities.  Work is performed in a library
environment.  Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.
