About ASM Journals
The American Society for Microbiology is the oldest and largest single life science membership organization in the world. The Society’s mission is to advance microbiological sciences through the pursuit of scientific knowledge and dissemination of the results of fundamental and applied research. ASM publishes 12 primary research and 3 review journals: Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy; Applied and Environmental Microbiology; Clinical Microbiology Reviews; Clinical and Vaccine Immunology; EcoSal Plus, Infection and Immunity; Journal of Bacteriology; Journal of Clinical Microbiology; Journal of Virology; Microbiology and Molecular Biology Reviews; Microbiology Spectrum; and Molecular and Cellular Biology. The Society also publishes mBio, an open-access journal covering the full spectrum of microbiology, Genome Announcements, an open-access journal publishing reports of microbial genome sequences, and Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education, an open-access journal that fosters scholarly teaching and provides adoptable resources in biology education. In 2016, ASM launched two new open-access journals: mSphere, a multi-disciplinary journal that publishes fundamental contributions to the immense range of fields within the microbial sciences, and mSystems, a journal that publishes research in systems biology of individual microbes through microbial communities, including the development of new computational approaches. With nearly 100 years of publishing experience, ASM journals continue to be an authoritative source for the latest in microbiology news.
