I am just passing on some news that I hope is of interest to the readers of ERIL-L.
OpenAthens, a leading provider of single sign on services for libraries and publishers has just released Redirector, a product feature that simplifies link management for librarians. As importantly, Redirector enables access to libraries' subscribed content from 'off-network' devices, enabling simpler management for mobile access.
With Redirector, OpenAthens has enabled a seamless one-click user experience for library patrons on devices out of their institution's IP range.
Full details are in the press release below or online.

OpenAthens launches new feature – Redirector – for mobile library access
OpenAthens – a leading provider of single sign-on services for libraries and publishers – announces the launch of a major new feature: Redirector.
OpenAthens' Redirector provides one-step access to subscription and other paid-for content by seamlessly requesting credentials when patrons are off-network and directly serving the content when they are in IP range. The proxy-like syntax eases the burden of link management for librarians and provides a seamless experience for users, who are increasingly demanding off-site and mobile access.
“Librarians and IT managers are faced with increasingly complex identity and access management [IAM] challenges,” said Jon Bentley, Head of Product Marketing for OpenAthens. “Students, researchers and clinicians increasingly need access to content wherever they are working or studying – at home, in the clinic, on the move – without time-intensive, complicated configurations. The Redirector in OpenAthens offers a seamless user experience without a tradeoff in security when users are out of IP range.”
Redirector provides one link for resource access, on and off the network and one format for all compatible resources. In addition, Redirector interfaces with the OpenAthens knowledgebase, which stores and maintains all required URL formats.
