It's my understanding that Adobe is now encrypting the data they send from ADE to Adobe. Here is a link to an ADE privacy page on Adobe's website. http://www.adobe.com/privacy/ade.html Within this document they state that they are not collecting anything beyond DRM verification information.
In the general privacy policy additional information they state that more information may be collected. http://www.adobe.com/privacy/policy.html
There are some privacy settings, but I haven't waded through all of it yet.

Hi Craig,
After the initial discovery of Adobe's privacy violation, we wrote a blog post which included many links to the ALA statement
( http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2014/10/adobe-responds-ala-egregious-data-breach-some-action-expected-week-oct-20) , Ars Technica article
( http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/10/adobes-e-book-reader-sends-your-reading-logs-back-to-adobe-in-plain-text/) and The Digital Reader post
( http://the-digital-reader.com/2014/10/06/adobe-spying-users-collecting-data-ebook-libraries/#.VDwW3JXzGCv) . The blog post is featured in our website rotator to increase visibility, and hopefully readership.
I haven't checked recently, but here are two updates from October:
ALA press release
( http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2014/10/ala-welcomes-adobe-action-greater-attention-reader-privacy-concerns)
The Digital Reader blog post update
( http://the-digital-reader.com/2014/10/23/adobe-updates-digital-edition-stops-sharing-user-info-internet/#.VFD--pXzGCs)
I hope this information helps!
Best,
Alana

Hello librarians,
What are your thoughts on the current state of Adobe's Digital Editions' privacy? Has Adobe made any changes yet to allow greater privacy or is this still an issue? I have been searching but I haven't found much follow-up information after the initial lack of privacy revelation. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
