<div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr">Our situation is different from yours but I thought it would be helpful to tell you our solution. (As an aside, we also are looking for new or better ways to track perpetual access ebook purchases.) <div><br></div><div>We do not add any ebooks to our journals knowledge base. </div><div><br></div><div>Our LSP is FOLIO and we have the option to use OCLC Collection Manager to add MARC records for ebook collection subscriptions (rentals) into the public interface side of our catalog. Thus, the records are available in the public facing library catalog, but are not added to the backend (FOLIO). Basically, we use OCLC Collection Manager as a knowlegebase for ebook subscriptions (rentals). [This has the added benefit of having all ebook and print book MARC records in the same catalog/resource for public searching. All of these MARC records are added to our Discovery system via API.]</div><div><br></div><div>We can distinguish between ebook subscriptions (rentals) and perpetual access ebooks because we hand-catalog (or enhance the MARC record) the perpetual access purchased ebook titles and the MARC record is added to FOLIO. In a few cases, with large ebook package purchases, we cannot hand-catalog each ebook title separately. However, we do load those MARC records into FOLIO. </div><div><br></div><div>At this time, we are trying to figure out a way to add codes to all ebook records (probably bibliographic or inventory because some of our older ebook purchase order records no longer exist) so that we can easily create a report on ebook MARC records for both perpetual access and subscription (rental). <p class="MsoNormal">As more libraries purchase perpetual rights to eBooks, I am curious to know how you manage that ownership. Is it enough for you to have the titles selected in your knowledge base (OCLC Collection Manager, EBSCO Full Text Finder, etc.)?
Or do you track the ownership some other way?<u></u><u></u></p>
