<i>is</i> a more efficient way. For those platforms that provide stats from an admin interface (that is, the same URL, the same form fields, the same POST/GET HTTP process), then there
<i>may</i> be a way to program a script that scrapes the data, but that’s a lot of
<i>if</i>’s. About half of our non-COUNTER platforms require us to send emails (which could be automated, but that would only save a few minutes), and then waiting, waiting, waiting for a response. You may be able to program your email to dump the file in
a folder, which could help with a programmatic solution. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Aptos",sans-serif">My point is, perhaps with some work to identify the patterns (platforms with downloadable files, platforms that require emailing, send files with consistent file names, etc.), you may be able
to write some code that can help, but I’m not sure the benefit would be worth the cost of time. In addition, it may be worth keeping track of the time that is spent on these, and calculating the value of gathering the data – e.g., only if the cost or usage
meets a certain threshold. This could be used as talking points with the vendors, especially if they are interested in your library continuing the subscription.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
