Librarianship is a practice that evolved in response to academic hustle culture
but applies to all areas of library work. Julia Glassman coined the term in
2017, and Meredith Farkas, inspired by Julia’s work, has been speaking and
writing on the topic since. The term grew at the same time as other social
movements, largely in the context of the pandemic. The core idea of valuing
quality over quantity is timeless and transcends states of emergency. These
values are echoed in societal movements for a better mental health response in
workplace culture and within libraries specifically push back against classist
notions of service and emotionally- and economically-damaging vocational awe.</span></p>

e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters of interest,
led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The e-forum discussion
list works like an email listserv: register your email address with the list,
and then you will receive messages and communicate with other participants
through an email discussion. Most e-forums last two to three days. Registration
is necessary to participate, but it's free.</span></p>
