Our answer is similar to Kirsten's - we have a "subscription" budget and a "one time purchase" budget (which is mostly books but can also be journal backfile purchases and the like).</div>

We have separate accounting codes for ebooks vs print just because of Canadian tax law (we have to pay more tax on ebooks than print books), but otherwise we don't distinguish, but leave it up to the subject librarians on a book-by-book basis to decide which
 format they think is most suitable, and they submit their order accordingly to our acquisitions unit (which is me and my assistant).</div>

 are determined by a mix of factors, including: number of majors, credit hours, faculty FTE, and average book cost from the previous year. But we’re not a research university so we don’t take publishing into account.</span></p>

<p class="x_MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-CA">I was wondering if anyone in an academic library can share how they allocate their e-book budget. We would like to allocate a percentage of our e-book budget to each faculty and then they can use it to purchase faculty
 publications, student recommendations, and faculty requests as they see fit. I think it makes sense to allocate the most money to the largest faculty, but I’m not sure if it is that simple. Our education faculty publishes the most e-books, so should they get
 a higher allocation to buy faculty publications? Should it be based on which faculty typically has the most expensive e-books?
