Content migration from proprietary systems to open source repositories remains a barrier for many institutions due to lack of tools, tutorials, and documentation. The University of Houston Libraries, in partnership and consultation
with numerous institutions, was awarded an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) National Leadership/Project Grant to support the creation of the Bridge2Hyku (B2H) Toolkit which aims to remove obstacles to adoption and migration. The Toolkit, which
includes general migration strategies and use cases as well as tools for transitioning from CONTENTdm to Hyku, acts as a comprehensive resource to facilitate repository migration. This talk will highlight how the toolkit can be a training resource for repository
selection and migration, and will include discussion of the knowledge and skills needed to work on digital repository selection and migration.
supported by the LSU Libraries. Each participating institution creates, describes, and manages its own digital collections within the LDL. This presents unique opportunities and challenges. This presentation describes how training is provided in a multi-institutional
setting. The use of face-to-face training sessions, remote assistance, and recorded tutorials will all be discussed as well as the challenges posed by working with staff at underfunded institutions and with all variety of technical experience and metadata
