<div dir="ltr"><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">Coming from the WorldCat Discovery side of things, I would add that while OCLC might have a position as a neutral vendor when it comes to indexing content, that relationship still requires ProQuest and EBSCO share that metadata with OCLC to be indexed. You might find some content in WorldCat Discovery from ProQuest that isn't available in EDS, but you're not going to find all of it in WorldCat Discovery (especially things like ProQuest's Dissertations and Theses Global database).<br><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif">If a vendor doesn't contribute metadata, WorldCat still may have master records contributed by libraries which at least makes those items discoverable (based on searches in WorldCat, there's an estimated 1 million or so theses and dissertations available in WorldCat of the 4 million or so available in PQDT). However, your link resolver still needs to be able to direct users from the record to the item, and it doesn't make up for article/chapter level metadata.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif"><br></div><div style="font-family:verdana,sans-serif;display:inline" class="gmail_default">I've heard that EBSCO can create widgets that when clicked on by a user after running a search, directs them to the database to see the search results from that database. well for us, but it cannot load ProQuest metadata, so the only ProQuest resources that show are the links out to full-text if an article was indexed in another covered database but was available in full-text in ProQuest. Unique ProQuest content does not display
in EDS. As I understand it, the reverse situation is true in ProQuest’s Summon tool (Ebsco content is not searched).<u></u><u></u></span></p>
