<div dir="ltr">Hi Marcia,<br clear="all"><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div><br></div><div>We have been doing Kanopy PDA for several years, and we have seen the same increases and trends this past year that you noted. I spoke with someone at Kanopy about my concerns, and they felt it was partly a result of our patrons becoming more comfortable and familiar with the platform. In other words, patrons are now searching in Kanopy for all their video needs rather than just heading there when an assignment requires them to visit the site. We're also seeing many films triggered two and three times over the course of our PDA program with them. The Kanopy rep didn't provide me with any solutions or options to combat the spending increases, which if they continue, may be unsustainable for us. </div><div><br></div><div>One thing that I did recently was to turn off the "recommend this Kanopy film to your librarian" feature. We don't have all of the subjects enabled in our profile, but I was getting a lot of one-off requests from faculty and students who would find a video on Kanopy that wasn't in our pool (and/or wasn't available for PDA) and ask for us to purchase it. <p class="MsoNormal">Since the beginning of the year our library has seen a significant increase in invoice totals for our subscription to Kanopy’s PDA subscription. We are now being invoiced monthly, instead of quarterly (which it looks like were in 2017)
and our totals for the monthly invoices are equaling the quarterly ones from last year. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed anything similar?
