We use SFX for our link resolver and followed a custom hack done by a colleague at Kansas State University some time ago that detects whether the citation is for ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, and then drives a title search (taken from
the dissertation title in the citation) into ProQuest Dissertations & Theses. This works the majority of the time to get users directly to the full text of the dissertation, but any characters in the title that are out of the ordinary cause the search to fail.
There has been a lot of discussion among those who use WorldCat Discovery as their discovery layer about alternatives to getting linking to work. The ideal would of course be that ProQuest alters its whole approach to this expensive product to natively enable
OpenURL linking, and last I heard, they may be working on that, but others will probably know more, and I may be out of date by now about better solutions.
