<p>Texas A&M University Libraries seeks a dynamic and collaborative professional to join the Libraries as the Director of Collection Development and Acquisitions Services. The person in this leadership position must be a self-starter who will set the strategic
 direction for the unit. He or she will have proven assessment and negotiation skills, will have successfully led a functional area and demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with other units. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries through the Associate
 Dean for Information Resources, the Director of Collection Development and Acquisitions Services will manage the library materials budget, direct the activities for one-time purchases and copy cataloging workflow and coordinate collection development policies
 and collection analysis. This is a tenure-track academic appointment carrying full faculty status and responsibilities including research, publication, and service to meet both the Libraries’ and the University’s requirements for tenure and promotion.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Responsibilities include:<o:p></o:p></p>

Participate in development, testing, and implementation of FOLIO, a new open-source library services platform<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
In cooperation with the other Information Resources directors, support the strategic direction for the division, the Libraries, and the University<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Provide direct leadership and administrative oversight for 3 librarians and 13 support staff<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Manage the $16+ million materials budget for the TAMU Libraries, using sound financial accounting practices and detailed financial analysis and reporting<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Oversee the workflow for collection development and the acquisition and copy cataloging of one-time purchases<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Manage relationships, negotiations and contracts with vendors for approval plans, DDA, and other one-time purchases<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Exercise leadership in the examination and creation of policies that govern library collections<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l2 level1 lfo1">
Works closely with the Director of Electronic Resources in the acquisition and management of recurring content<o:p></o:p></li></ul>

At least 3 years of professional librarian (post-MLS) experience managing complex, acquisitions operations in multiple formats, particularly of one-time purchases<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-list:l1 level1 lfo2">
