<div dir="ltr"><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b><span class="gmail-il">Discovery</span> <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> <span class="gmail-il">Librarian</span>, Assistant/Associate <span class="gmail-il">Librarian</span></b></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b>Miami University <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span> (Oxford, OH)</b></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b><a href="http://www.lib.miamioh.edu/" target="_blank">http://www.lib.miamioh.edu/</a><br></b></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b>Job Description:</b></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px">The <span class="gmail-il">Discovery</span> <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> <span class="gmail-il">Librarian</span> will serve in a hybrid position, bridging technical and public <span class="gmail-il">services</span> to foster a seamless experience for staff and users in <span class="gmail-il">discovering</span> <span class="gmail-il">library</span> resources through the development, support, and maintenance of <span class="gmail-il">library</span> <span class="gmail-il">discovery</span> strategies and <span class="gmail-il">services</span>. The ideal candidate will provide leadership in conceptualizing, developing and managing enhancements to internal and public-facing commercial and locally-developed <span class="gmail-il">library</span> <span class="gmail-il">discovery</span> applications, and in creating and maintaining the Technical <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> Department’s automated workflows. This position will also work closely with the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ IT staff.  The <span class="gmail-il">Discovery</span> <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> <span class="gmail-il">Librarian</span> reports to the Head of Technical <span class="gmail-il">Services</span>. </div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><br></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b>Duties/Physical Demands:</b></div><ul style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><li style="margin-left:15px">Works in close cooperation with the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ IT  staff, serving as the department liaison for the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ III Sierra ILS and EZProxy server.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Creates and maintains applications and programs to automate technical <span class="gmail-il">services</span> departmental workflows and oversees classified staff performing ordering and cataloging functions using automated workflows.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Maintains and troubleshoots the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ III Sierra instance in conjunction with <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span> IT department , including but not limited to: maintaining and developing load profiles; developing and upgrading webpac features based on changes in cataloging standards (RDA) and capabilities of the software; maintaining and developing scripts to work in conjunction with the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ III Sierra ILS and other vendor systems (e.g., OCLC, YBP Gobi, EBSCO <span class="gmail-il">Discovery</span> <span class="gmail-il">Service</span>, etc.).<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Maintains and troubleshoots the <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span>’ EBSCO <span class="gmail-il">Discovery</span> <span class="gmail-il">Service</span> interfaces in conjunction with <span class="gmail-il">Libraries</span> IT Department.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Coordinates with relevant OhioLINK consortial committees to sync local catalog/software practices with consortial best practices.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Assesses Technical <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> workflow efficiencies through oversight and analysis of departmental and <span class="gmail-il">library</span> statistics from Sierra and other relevant sources.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Collaborates with other <span class="gmail-il">library</span> departments and <span class="gmail-il">librarians</span> to develop appropriate applications.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Supervises staff as assigned.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Provides training as needed.<br></li><li style="margin-left:15px">Advises the Department Head on issues related to <span class="gmail-il">discovery</span> of <span class="gmail-il">library</span> resources and the improvement of Technical <span class="gmail-il">Services</span> workflows.</li></ul><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px"><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b></div><div style="color:rgb(0,0,0);font-size:12.8px">An ALA-accredited MLS; two or more years of relevant academic <span class="gmail-il">library</span> experience; experience in a technical <span class="gmail-il">services</span> or related setting; training in and/or experience with traditional and evolving cataloging prac
