<strong>About the position</strong><br>
The Discovery and Delivery Systems Librarian serves as a domain expert in both library and key technical domains, responsible for operating key library services (union catalog, link resolvers) and integrated services such as Interlibrary Loan, while maintaining
community connections and information flow related to library systems software, standards and infrastructure. The position demands solid knowledge of core library systems, particularly link resolvers, and academic publishing workflows, as well as demonstrated
ability to think strategically about evolving systems in new directions to meet emerging needs. Responsibilities include technical configuration and administration of current product implementations. Another strong component of the position is understanding
what the various components of academic library systems are and how they integrate. <br>

System Management</p>

<li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Serve as technical lead and administrator for key software systems for the UC Libraries by configuring and integrating multiple hosted vendor services. </li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Provide expertise in the architectures and integration points of current and similar systems.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Manage the flow of multiple data streams governing the configuration these key systems.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Understand and document integrations and interactions between these key systems and campus, content vendor, and other third party systems.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Cultivate strong working relationships with software vendor technical staff, and work with them to monitor services and report and troubleshoot service degradations and interruptions. </li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Work with content vendors to manage administrative accounts, and with campus partners on data extracts, usage reports, customizations and problem solving. </li></ul>

User Support and Needs Analysis</p>

<li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Masters in Information, MLIS or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.</li></ul>

<strong>Required Skills</strong></p>

<li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">5 or more years of hands-on experience in library systems (preferably in an academic library setting), with particular strength in the area of systems for discovery and delivery of electronic resources including
link resolvers, proxies, discovery layers, ILS and ERMS. </li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Advanced knowledge of current and emerging library technology standards, protocols and initiatives such as OpenURL, MARC, Z39.50, SRU/SRW, KBART, GoKB, ODI, and the NISO privacy initiative.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation.</li><li style="line-height: 1.5em; padding-bottom: 8px;">See full job description for other skills</li></ul>
