<div><br></div>The Lauinger Library is located in the heart of the Washington metropolitan area, on the Main Campus of Georgetown University, above the Key Bridge and the Potomac River, at the corner of 37th and Prospect Streets NW. The library houses materials in the humanities, social sciences and business, as well as U.S. federal government documents and a Special Collections Research Center, which includes archives, rare books, manuscripts and rare prints. Lauinger Library also serves as the center for the following: The Gelardin New Media Center; the Durkin Collection; the McGhee Collection; the McGhee Center Collection in Alanya, Turkey; the Villa Le Balze Collection in Fiesole, Italy; and the Woodstock Theological Center Library.<br><br>The Senior Electronic Resources Specialist, reporting to the Unit Head, has duties that include but are not limited to:<ul><li>Ensures timely access to our entitlements (i.e., purchased library materials in all formats) through the loading of vendor supplied records for e-books, e-journals, digital and print materials into the Library system.<br></li><li>Performs necessary maintenance tasks on electronic resources and related metadata to ensure accuracy and continued resource discovery and access for the Georgetown University community.<br></li><li>Serves as a resource and collaborates with others as needed to accomplish the goals of the Unit, Department, and Library.<br></li><li>Receives electronic invoicing records (EDI invoicing) from vendors.<br></li><li>Creates metadata records for electronic materials that have no vendor supplied records,<br></li><li>Processes invoices for new and renewing electronic resources and serials in line with established Unit workflows.<br></li><li>Provides patron-centered troubleshooting of electronic resources,<br></li><li>Proactively communicates with vendors and publishers regarding purchases, renewals, and technical problems.<br></li><li>Handles special projects and carryies out other duties as assigned to adapt to the changing needs of the Department and the Library.<br></li><li>Serves on library-wide committees and task forces.<br></li><li>Supervises student workers.<br></li></ul><br>Requirements<br><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree – preference for Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution<br></li><li>2 years of library experience in electronic resources and/or metadata/cataloging services within an academic or research library setting or equivalent experience with Library Systems database maintenance activities (An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)<br></li><li>Superior problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail<br></li><li>Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapid change and to exercise creativity and initiative<br></li><li>Demonstrated ability to analyze production-related issues and organize workflow to maximize efficiency<br></li><li>Ability to work independently and to consult with supervisor as needed<br></li><li>Flexibility to take on new responsibilities and projects<br></li><li>Ability to work as part of a team in a complex and changing environment<br></li><li>Familiarity with Windows desktop, word processing, e-mail, and internet resources and tools<br></li></ul><br>Preferred qualifications<br><ul><li>Familiarity with electronic resources management systems such – e.g., Serials Solutions<br></li><li>Experience with an integrated library system – e.g., Innovative Interfaces<br></li><li>Experience with loading vendor supplied records into an automated library system<br></li><li>Experience with electronic resources support systems, - e.g., LibGuides, EZproxy, and Summon<br></li><li>Experience with a national bibliographic utility – e.g., Online Computer Library Center (OCLC)<br></li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of Machine-Readable (MARC) and non-MARC metadata formats, such as but not limited to Metadata Encoding and Transmissions Standard (METS), Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS), Dublin Core <br></li><li>Familiarity with batch editing tools – e.g., MarcEdit</li></ul><br>Georgetown University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff.
