Libraries and Film Collections in Challenging Times. Three days (Nov.
11-13) of virtual collaboration await as we share strategies for
maintaining robust collections while protecting intellectual freedom.

The Video Trust conference offers a unique blend of keynotes,
presentations, panel discussions, and unconference-styled conversations as
well as opportunities to not simply talk to distributors, but learn about
the trends they’re seeing on the inside of distribution and how that might
impact libraries.

This year’s presentations are insightful, informative, and varied, with
colleagues presenting on experiences with ethnic studies media acquisition,
managing streaming media collections in a time of uncertainty, digitizing
and preserving early local television film collections, and an examination
of the silences in our streaming collections to better see the challenges
in media collection development.

We are thrilled that we will have two keynote guests: public librarian,
speaker, and activist Jessamyn West (author of Revolting Librarians Redux
and Without a Net: Librarians Bridging the Digital Divide) as well as film
and media archivist and lecturer Regina Longo (associate editor of Film
Quarterly, founding director of Albanian Cinema Project).
