"This Work is Urgent, This Work will Take Time": Integrating DEIA into
Resource Description Workflows

When: February 04, 2025 2:00 PM, EST

Where: Zoom

*Register* at https://nasig.org/event-6018500

*DESCRIPTION*

This webinar will discuss methods for integrating Diversity, Equity,
Inclusivity and Accessibility (DEIA) into resource description workflows
and the critical, and necessarily continuous, aspect of DEIA in our work.
This work requires that library staff are afforded with opportunities to
reflect upon and question traditional resource description standards and
practices. Drawing from examples from projects undertaken by the
Cataloguing, Metadata, and Digitization department at the Carleton
University Library, such as respectful terminology projects involving
Indigenous and LGBTQ collections and cataloguing code of ethics and
problematic language statements, presenters will discuss how integrating
DEIA into our workflows, while urgent, takes time and is never completed.
