Apologies for any cross-posting.
In January 2026, the access control system for a number of Oxford University Press online resources will be upgraded to improve performance and stability.
Please view our access control upgrade guide<https://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/pdf/librarian/sams-to-sigma-guide.pdf> to see:
* Affected products and the dates on which they will be experiencing this change
* Actions you need to review/perform
* Answers to frequently asked questions
There will be no major changes to how you access usage reports or manage your access and account. Likewise, there are no actions needed on your part for access around IP authentication, username and password access, or library card access. Content on the Oxford Academic platform such as Oxford Journals and Oxford Scholarship Online will NOT be impacted by the change. The Oxford English Dictionary will also NOT be impacted.
If you are using EZProxy, you will need to update your new proxy stanza on the OCLC website<https://help.oclc.org/Library_Management/EZproxy/EZproxy_database_stanzas> before mid-January to ensure proxy access is maintained. Shibboleth/OpenAthens/WAYFless URL users will need to update links once these systems go live. More details are available in the upgrade guide<https://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/pdf/librarian/sams-to-sigma-guide.pdf>.
This process will be largely invisible to most users. Those who use personal profiles on select products (such as saved searches) will be prompted to reset their password via My Account on Oxford Academic. Please note that customers of Trove and Blackstone Police Q&A products may wish to review additional FAQs in the upgrade guide.<https://fdslive.oup.com/www.oup.com/academic/pdf/librarian/sams-to-sigma-guide.pdf>
