Summary: BioOne will launch a Subscribe to Open pilot<https://bioonepublishing.org/our-work/subscribe-to-open/> in January 2026 to further the mission of maximizing access to research within a sustainable scholarly communications ecosystem. This pilot will span 2026 – 2028, and include 71 titles from 54 society publishers. Via S2O, all current-year content from these titles will publish open access if subscription revenue meets the year’s sustainability threshold, without APCs.

Join members of the BioOne library community and 3 participating publishers active in the fields of conservation biology, natural sciences, ecology, and herpetology - including the first S2O title from Brazil. Hear how S2O aligns with shared values, supports nonprofit publishers, and helps libraries meet their aims. Attendees will also learn how libraries and consortia can participate and have ample time to ask questions.
