This is a last call for contributions to the "E-Resource Round Up" column that will appear in volume 37, issue 4 of the Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship (JERL). Submissions can be related to any aspect of electronic resources and how they are used in libraries, including in-person or virtual conference reports, professional discussion groups, meetings, artificial intelligence, practices in using electronic resources in-house, and cataloging/metadata resources and processes.
This is a great opportunity to share your insights and experiences with others in our profession.
The deadline for final submissions is Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Contributions should not be published elsewhere.

We migrated just at the beginning of the summer. We had to push to wait that long, citing the many features that expert searchers depended on that were not yet available earlier in the year. We're still on many many enhancement requests for upgrades that we would like to see. I've attached a document of the enhancement requests we've been tracking if you'd like to look through that. (It's not very nice looking as it was a quick copy/paste.) The enhancement requests are prioritized based on how many customers are requesting that feature, so it really helps to put your name in to whatever enhancement requests you'd like to see happen. When you request an enhancement request via Support, you're not told when it's planned for. It's best to check the Roadmap or to check in with your EBSCO contact to see if they have a timeline. Some enhancement requests that we're on are just being considered as EBSCO gathers more feedback.
EBSCO is quite responsive to feedback, but there is a lack of communication about when updates are made that can be frustrating. I would highly recommend joining this very active listserv if you haven't already: "EDS_Partners (new group)" <grp-edspartners at ebscoind.onmicrosoft.com<mailto:grp-edspartners at ebscoind.onmicrosoft.com>>. There are other libraries on there that share tips and tricks as well as EBSCO people, and sometimes I can get feedback about an issue there more quickly than I can from Support.

I encourage you to join the EDS partners listserv, as this specific issue was just discussed earlier this week, and what came out of that was:
1.
if you will only have a single "customlink" under Access Options, EBSCO converts the pulldown into just a button to that one link
2.
that link should be the text of the customlink unless your link text is longer than 35 characters, then a generic label will be used instead
3.
there is a bug in that right now that it is not displaying the text even when shorter than 35 characters, so a Service Issue is open to fix it
This is NOT evidence that EBSCO is favoring itself over Proquest or anyone else. The problem would have been the same for any other vendor's customlink. You just happened to see the bug for a Proquest link. In my very long experience working with EBSCO products, EBSCO only favors its own content in its platform when doing so makes for a genuinely better user experience. I wholeheartedly support that value judgment.

It is over 35 characters long, but as I recall, EBSCO assisted with creating the custom link to begin with. Ebook Central is a consortia based sub for us and they told us to work with EBSCO to make things happen on the Discovery end. That was several years ago though.
I'll ask EBSCO for suggestions, I don't want to break it entirely.

My library uses EBSCO Discovery service, and we have both EBSCO's ebook collections and Ebook Central collections. Ebook Central listings are included in Discovery.
We've noticed that EBSCO ebook results have a clear link for full text under the Access Options menu, usually EPUB. When an eBook Central result appears in Discovery there is just a More Information box that takes place of the Access Options box.
The More Information box does link to the title in EBook Central but seems to be misleading. I have no doubt this is another way EBSCO is trying to put their content first, just wondering if anyone else has contacted them about it.
We're also experiencing odd search result relevancy issues in Discovery, but that's probably another entire discussion.

The change for the custom link labels is relatively recent. When EBSCO helped with that custom link creation, the longer label was perfectly acceptable.
I spent an hour and a half yesterday manually checking and fixing all our 8 million custom links. Woooo :(

It is over 35 characters long, but as I recall, EBSCO assisted with creating the custom link to begin with. Ebook Central is a consortia based sub for us and they told us to work with EBSCO to make things happen on the Discovery end. That was several years ago though.
I'll ask EBSCO for suggestions, I don't want to break it entirely.

My library uses EBSCO Discovery service, and we have both EBSCO's ebook collections and Ebook Central collections. Ebook Central listings are included in Discovery.
We've noticed that EBSCO ebook results have a clear link for full text under the Access Options menu, usually EPUB. When an eBook Central result appears in Discovery there is just a More Information box that takes place of the Access Options box.
The More Information box does link to the title in EBook Central but seems to be misleading. I have no doubt this is another way EBSCO is trying to put their content first, just wondering if anyone else has contacted them about it.
We're also experiencing odd search result relevancy issues in Discovery, but that's probably another entire discussion.

Hi all,
Like many other libraries, we have been hoping to execute this transition before the beginning of the fall semester and we have registered for the August implementation cohort. However, this conversation has been concerning enough that I am considering postponing our upgrade until the Windows ?device integrity? error has been sorted out.
I?m told by PQ Ebook Support that ?We have seen this error occur for some users of some libraries, and are reporting the error on a case by case basis. Development is currently investigating the issue, and have not made us aware of an identified cause or resolution yet.?
Have any of you all been able to find a solution for this issue?

Wondering if anyone has found a resolution for the Windows file launch yet. I was able to test the app on both Android and iOS devices yesterday and it's working nicely.
I did hear back from ProQuest after I further enquired about the type of file available for download, but they have not yet addressed the device integrity error:

I created a ticket yesterday since the app would not install on my Windows 10 PC. I also tried the mobile app on my iPhone this morning, and am having issues with the way text is displaying. Initially, it seemed to work on my iPhone, but then I noticed once I scrolled past the table of contents, I see some bullet points, but no text on subsequent pages. I am about to create another ticket. I appreciate your email, since I was going to have others test as well, but I think this may be a wider issue.

Hi,
I think you have to be able to sideload onto a Windows PC from what we
discovered. Our IT services has that option blocked. So, people can only
load it on a personal windows device.
They can still view the books online, just not download them.
