Albertsons Library at Boise State University is hiring for a Discovery
Librarian - Assistant Professor faculty position!


*Position overview:*Albertsons Library at Boise State University invites
applications for a Discovery Librarian, a *12-month, tenure track faculty
position at the rank of assistant professor*, that is forward-thinking and
tech-savvy and plays a central role in enhancing access to the Library’s
collections. We seek a candidate who can bridge traditional cataloging
practices with advanced AI-driven tools to create intuitive, dynamic, and
inclusive systems for organizing and discovering information.


*The Discovery Librarian will:*

   - Lead metadata creation, cleanup, and enhancement, including the
   integration of AI tools.
   - Collaborate on initiatives using linked data, APIs, and
   interoperability protocols to optimize collection discovery.
   - Maintain expertise in cataloging standards such as RDA and authority
   control. Collaborates and develops local cataloging and metadata policies.
   - Combine human oversight with machine learning to ensure high-quality,
   consistent metadata that supports discovery and accessibility.
   - Work closely with subject librarians, IT professionals, and
   researchers to align metadata strategy with user needs and institutional
   priorities.

This position offers the opportunity to shape how users access knowledge in
a dynamic, evolving academic environment. The Discovery Librarian will lead
the resource description and cataloging section, which includes two
professional cataloging specialists, providing training and guidance to
support professional development. This position includes librarianship,
scholarship, and service to the library, university, and the profession
based on negotiated workload.
