[Eril-l] APA Style Guide

We looked into the APA Style Guide for our hospital Library about a year ago and found that it wasn't available - I forget but I don't think they offered any sort of institutional subscription? Has that changed? We are still interested, but not if it's strictly an individual product only.

Happy Friday.
We are currently investigating the online style guide workbook for our University APA https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://apastyle.apa.org/products/mastering-apa-style__;!!IvuGXOn7!gKZHC5HTIi8ihk79J2OjYMcmbJssXcSfGPxXpeIsQnn0fNZ5uLRkivtiMcuBgxRFchg3NIZftpO7iSo5VDcoU--nF-PX$ and it will be a new feature that the campus will offer this fall through the new program JAGPACK through the campus bookstore.
My question is regarding the other style guides out there. In particular, an online version to access.

We've subscribed to the Chicago Manual of Style online for many years. It's a good interface, gets good usage, is reasonably priced, and compatible with IP authentication and EZproxy.

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.
Description: Participative leadership techniques are used in a variety of situations, but one of the ways they can be effective is when major changes are needed in an organization. These techniques lend themselves to collective and inclusive decision-making that can empower employees at all levels. Workplace culture is influenced by leadership styles of the individuals in those roles. Participative leadership techniques develop a level of employee engagement that carries over and continues in the organization. This webinar will describe how participative leadership can be used in decision-making, its impact on employee engagement, inclusiveness, and work culture. In order to illustrate these points, presenters will share an example of how participative leadership techniques were applied during organizational structure planning.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this webinar, the attendees will:

Seti has 18 years of library experience from which she has 8 years of supervisory and management experience. She has earned an M.S. in Information Science and an MBA in Strategic Management from UNT. She is currently serving as the chair of RUSA Emerging Technologies Section.T
Briana Knox (they/them) is the User Services Librarian at University of North Texas Libraries and leads the User Services Unit in the Access Services Department. Briana has 15 years of library experience with 7 of those years in a management role. Their research interests include inclusive leadership practices, accessibility, and privacy advocacy.

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.
Description: How do we share information and procedures related to acquisitions? We have documents, workshops, dedicated time in meetings in person or Zoom, but is there a better way to provide information and training while freeing up future time? While training can be time intensive, it is a necessity; what if we transition to self-service modules that can be used as a refresher at any time? Our Information literacy colleagues have seen success developing asynchronous learning objects that can be slotted into classes, which can free them up to focus on more complex teaching and research. An acquisitions librarian partnered with an instruction librarian who has experience in the creation of asynchronous content to develop acquisitions based training modules. We identified a platform and used existing training and documentation to scaffold a selection of topics that were aimed at two user groups, Selectors and Acquisitions Staff. Topics covered include understanding the selection interface (GOBI) & searching, selecting, and evaluating items. The modules are highly multimodal ? a mix of written descriptions, videos, activities, and games ? to keep the material engaging and reinforce topics, while grouping similar concepts to allow for replayability and reinforcement.
We?ll demonstrate and share how we built our modules, our preliminary assessment data, and where we plan to go next.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

Discuss the pros and cons of asynchronous learning in order to evaluate
its appropriateness for internal trainings

Analyze the trainings and/or onboarding offered within their department
or library in order to identify gaps that may be prime candidates for
targeted instruction

Compare the features of different learning or content-hosting platforms
in order to determine which might be the best fit for their institution
Who should attend?
This is a beginner level content, but can be of use to intermediate as well. Acquisitions departments staff; attendees are also encouraged to consider areas outside Tech Services where this type of asynchronous training implementation could be useful.
Presenter:
Cara Calabrese is the Acquisitions & Access Librarian at Miami University Libraries. She received her MLIS from Florida State University in 2015 and began her librarian career as a Resident Librarian in Technical Services.
She has worked in various areas of Technical Services, but recently has focused on acquisitions and electronic resources. She currently serves as the Chair of the ALA Core Budget and Finance Committee, and Technical Services and Systems Committee.
Ginny Boehme is the Science Librarian for Miami University Libraries and a past co-chair for the Library Gaming Knights Committee. She has previously taught a first-year research experience course on museological research and exhibit design, and is currently serving as a member of the editorial team for an upcoming special issue on Science Librarianship and Social Justice for the journal Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship.
