The R5 tool is meant for consortia, so while it can be used for a single institution, it can be a bit confusing to use that way.

We at UPEI developed an open source tool for R5.0<https://github.com/CS-4820-Library-Project/COUNTER-5-Report-Tool-2020-5.0> that still works pretty well and is on that list at Project COUNTER.

This semester, I have two separate teams of 4th year CS students each developing an update for it that is going to include 5.0 and 5.1 and should be compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops.
If the students complete the project (they want their As in that course!), I'll be making them available on Github. I'll know for sure by May.
The new one will be simpler and I'll be providing side tips about using an SQLite database graphical front end (Dbeaver, free) to generate complex reports across multiple content providers.

In the meantime, I'm happy to provide basic support for the current one, which also puts all of the data in an SQLite database.
I use it heavily myself, especially as we approach the fiscal year end, to identify ebooks to purchase with last minute funds (title investigations without requests and that we don't own, and "No_License" denials).

Whatever tool you use, you want to be able to generate such reports across providers

I also wrote a very simple open source python program to pull all of the data from the Registry, which helps make it easier to start populating a spreadsheet of vendor SUSHI credentials for importing into whatever tool you use.
The tool takes a "snapshot" of the registry as of the moment it is run. If you would like a copy of a snapshot as of right now but don't know how to run a python program, email me and I'll send the output to you.

The Project COUNTER Registry is your friend for setting up SUSHI.

It will provide basic info, such as contact info for the vendor, their SUSHI server URL, the required fields, reports provided.

You will benefit from having your admin logins current. Usually the Customer ID, Requestor ID, and/or API key can be found in the COUNTER stats area of admin sites.

Which tool will you use for harvesting?  There are several available, some for free and some for a fee, and some built into other tools (i.e. SUSHI is built into Alma).  They have different levels of complexity to set up and use well. The COUNTER site lists some tools:

If you are just getting started and do not have a budget for a tool, the  R5 Harvester tool<https://www.projectcounter.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/SUSHIHarvesterR5.zip> is a good starting tool.
If you have a small budget, I recommend CELUS.  I can’t say enough to convey how much I like this tool.  It will do much of the heavy lifting for getting you up on SUSHI and makes it very easy to get useful info from the harvested data.

Hello.

I am curious how to start the process of setting UP Sushi in a much needed attempt to streamline our data collection.

I am looking on https://www.niso.org/ but still not sure what needs to come first and what questions I need to ask before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

In the past we have not used SUSHI Harvesting and I would like to incorporate this and see if it will assist our data collection process.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
