Introduction to Dublin Core

Dublin Core (DC) is an international metadata standard for describing digital objects and supports metadata exchange and harvesting. Starting with the core 15 elements and Dublin Core terms and progressing through to comparing different expressions of Dublin Core in HTML, XML, and RDF, this session provides an essential introduction to an important metadata standard.

Learning objectives for this session include:
*             Explain the Dublin Core Abstract Model
*             List and define the 15 DC Elements
*             Understand the DC Terms and their relationship with the 15 Elements
*             Compare different expressions of DC

Introduction to Archival Practice
July 10 - 13, 2023, 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm CDT

Gain an overview of archival practice by learning how to work with collections, describe and organize archival materials, and create a basic finding aid. Understand how to assist patrons with archival requests. Implement basic workflows, processes, and procedures to make collection maintenance and archival work easier.

Learning objectives for this session include:
*             Describe the difference between an archive and a library
*             Use available resources to describe and organize new archival contributions
