*Assistant Director for Collections Services, Wellelsey College (Wellesley,
MA, just outside Boston)*

Reporting to the Director of Library Collections, the Assistant Director
for Collections Services manages the Library's general collections in all
formats to ensure that the Community's research and teaching needs are
met.  The Assistant Director for Collections Services oversees collection
development, maintenance, and analysis tasks, and contributes a strategic
perspective to ensure that policies and procedures align with the mission
of the College.  The incumbent stays abreast of trends and issues in
academic librarianship, and seeks out new ways to collaborate with the
larger Library Collections Group and the Research and Instruction Support
Group with a goal to provide excellent service to all constituents.

This position supervises the Art Librarian, Music Librarian, Science
Librarian, Collections Management Librarian & Copyright Officer, Electronic
Resources Librarian, and the Resource Acquisitions Specialist.

*Position Responsibility*

   - Oversees the development, maintenance, and analysis of the Library’s
   general collections in all formats to support teaching and learning at the
   College.
   - Leads a team of selector librarians, taking on specific subject area
   responsibilities. Manages the Library Collections Group’s participation in
   LTS’s departmental liaison activities.
   - Monitors collections budgets and expenditures. Negotiates with
   vendors. Oversees acquisitions processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy,
   and cost-effectiveness.
   - Interfaces regularly with the Community to support teaching and
   learning at the College. Staffs the service desk, offers targeted
   instructional support as needed, communicates regularly with faculty and
   students with regards to the library’s general collections, builds
   relationships with colleagues and constituents.  Serves as a representative
   to the Heads of Resource Management group in the Boston Library Consortium.
   - Oversees staff and services in the Art Library and Music Library.
   Ensures effective collaboration between Clapp Library and the branch
   libraries.
   - Works in collaboration with other LTS Assistant Directors and Managers
   to provide integrated services to the Community.


*Qualifications*

Basic Qualifications

   - Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences or equivalent.
   - 5-7 years working in an academic library.
   - 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience working with
   collections in an academic setting.

Skills and Abilities

   - Broad understanding of the mission of higher education and the
   required support of library resources in the liberal arts.
   - Experience in the management of information resources in an academic
   library and an understanding of their importance and use in academic
   research and teaching at the undergraduate level.
   - Knowledge of scholarly publishing practices.
   - Excellent project planning and organizational skills. Strong written
   and verbal communication skills.
   - Knowledge of specific subject disciplines, their literatures and their
   methods of scholarly discourse.
   - A commitment to considerations of access, equity, diversity, and
   inclusion as it relates to the organization and presentation library
   collections.

*Salary Range*$80,000.00 - $90,000.00  / year
