Library Collections Specialist - eResources
Johnson County Library is a 14-branch suburban library system with a long history in our community. A suburb of the Kansas City metro area, our county is growing and diversifying. The Johnson County Library seeks qualified applicants to fill the position of Collections Specialist. The person will be part of a high-functioning, independent, and motivated team of Collection Development Librarians who perform centralized selection, management, and weeding for a growing 14 branch system with a floating collection. This position will focus primarily on developing the e-resource collections for the entire library system. We seek a forward-thinking, curious, data-driven librarian who will adhere to the principles of intellectual freedom and abide by the Johnson County Collection Development Policy, the ALA Library Bill of Rights and the ALA Freedom to Read and Freedom to View documents. This posting will be open through 5:00 p.m. (CDT) on March 27, 2023.
Job duties include:

  *   Selects content in electronic formats to ensure a balanced collection in line with the Library Collection Policy and Strategic Plan; reviews and evaluates materials and databases for addition to the collection using relevant review sources; negotiates contracts; manages and expends budget; coordinates Library staff and patron input into the collection; manages relationships between vendor and the library; troubleshoots electronic issues; actively develops workflow efficiencies in the selecting and ordering processes; maintains expert knowledge in electronic resources and database trends.
  *   Evaluates and manages the system-wide collection for focus area; analyzes data, recommends collection-related changes, develops weeding models, and trains staff as appropriate.
  *   Leads Library committees and projects teams; represents department to the public.
  *   Stays current with professional library and technological trends and literature and participates in national, regional, and local library groups.
