Pacific: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Mountain: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Central: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Eastern: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.



Increasingly, libraries of all flavors are incorporating video games and
virtual reality (VR) systems into their spaces and service offerings. Join
your colleagues to learn more about offerings at other institutions,
identify the unique ways video games and VR can meet user needs, discuss
challenges in offering these services, exchange programming and engagement
ideas, and more! Day 1 discussion will focus on video gaming, and Day 2
discussion will focus on VR.



*Hosts*

Joy DuBose is the Cataloger for Special Collections/ Projects and an
Assistant Professor at Mississippi State University. During her time at
MSU, she has cataloged a variety of materials including virtual reality
programs, non-English materials, electronic resources, and architectural
samples, such as concrete. Her research interests include: upcoming and
newer technology, video games in academia, and has presented and published
several times on virtual reality.



Lauren Haberstock is the Director of the Genesis Lab Maker Space and
Academic Center for Excellence and Librarian for Emerging Technologies and
Digital Projects at Pepperdine Libraries. Her research interests include
emerging technologies in higher education, decolonizing methodologies, and
design. In her current role at Pepperdine University, Haberstock directs
the Genesis Lab, a dynamic makerspace that offers students, faculty, and
staff access to 3D printing and design, gaming, virtual reality, 2D design,
and space to create and collaborate.



*What Is an e-Forum?*

A Core e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters of
interest, led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The
e-forum discussion list works like an email listserv: register your email
address with the list, and then you will receive messages and communicate
with other participants through an email discussion. Most e-forums last two
to three days. Registration is necessary to participate, but it's free.
