Best of Core at ALA Annual Conference: Thinking to Produce Results

Date: Tuesday, August 29, 2023

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.

Description:

Try a proven-strategy for streamlining your planning – as a librarian,
manager, or administrator – so that your thought-process, discussions, and
decision-making take less time and produce better results. Certified
trainers for Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats, Dorothy Stoltz, retired
library community engagement director, and Pat Carlisle, The de Bono Group,
will demonstrate the magic of thinking – drawing forth one’s genius to
enrich life. Explore a subject in parallel, rather than argue who is right
or wrong. Six Hats focuses on not telling you what to think but showing you
how to think for yourself, creatively and inclusively.

Learning outcomes:

   -

Upon completion, participants will be able to identify at least two
benefits for using Six Thinking Hats to provide a more positive approach to
how teams and individuals propose solutions.
   -

Upon completion, participants will be able to gain insight into
exploring subjects in parallel, rather than argue who is right or wrong.
   -

Upon completion, participants will be able to gain insight into the
potential use of the Six Hats method as a powerful thinking tool helping to
look at any subject in a collaborative 360 degree view.

Who should attend?

Any are welcome, but the focus is for managers and supervisors.
