All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.



Description: Visualizing data can provide instant and effective
storytelling. With library data, you can instantly explore usage stats,
collection facts, and user demographics. It can also be designed for all
levels in your organization, from the individual cataloger or acquisitions
specialist up to the library director or higher administration. Come
explore different visualizations on real library data to see how you may
begin to incorporate visualizations to show impact.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this webinar, attendees will:

   View several kinds of visualizations to assess different areas of
   cataloging and acquisitions

   Learn a few different chart options and how to apply them effectively
   -

   See best practices and ethical uses for assessing data
   -

   Be aware of different visualizations tools and options

Who should attend?

Technical Services and Collection staff that analyze data for statistical
reporting and collection development decisions.

Presenters:

Stephanie Church has been with Case Western Reserve University for over 13
years as an Acquisitions Librarian. Her primary responsibilities include
monograph purchases, managing and implementing user-driven initiatives, and
collection assessment.

Nathan Putnam is the Director of Data Quality and Governance at OCLC
leading a team of specialists focused on data quality, policies, and
standards for WorldCat data assets. He has 20 years of cataloging and
metadata experience working in multiple U.S. academic libraries as a
cataloger and manager and enjoys discussing cataloging trends and issues
with the wider metadata community.
