Core e-Forum: Assessment in Libraries: Planning and Practices

April 19-20, 2022

Moderated by Anita Hall, Julene Jones and Lee Ann Lannom

Please join us for an e-forum discussion. It’s free and open to everyone!

Registration information is at the end of the message.

Each day, discussion begins and ends at:

Pacific: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Mountain: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Central: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Eastern: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Assessment is a relatively new area in our profession and has quickly
matured into a foundational activity. Libraries perform assessment for a
variety of reasons, often guided by strategic plans or because of
statistics agency requirements, yet there are many ways that institutions
can approach these activities. Three assessment librarians want to hear
about how you plan your assessment activities and how you carry out your
general assessment practices.

Hosts

Anita Hall is the Assessment & Analytics Librarian at the University of
Louisville Libraries. Prior to UofL she worked in a variety of academic
libraries large and small, with a focus on assessment as the throughline.

Julene Jones is the Director of Library Assessment and the Organizational
Effectiveness Librarian at the University of Kentucky. Prior to this she
was the Head of Database Integrity at University of Kentucky Libraries
where she was responsible for running reports, maintaining the consistency
of the database, and authority control.

Lee Ann Lannom is the Assessment Librarian at the Vanderbilt University
Libraries. Prior to becoming the assessment librarian, she was a subject
librarian at the Peabody Library at Vanderbilt, working with the
departments of Teaching & Learning and Special Education.

What Is an e-Forum?

A Core e-forum provides an opportunity for librarians to discuss matters of
interest, led by a moderator, through the e-forum discussion list. The
e-forum discussion list works like an email listserv: register your email
address with the list, and then you will receive messages and communicate
with other participants through an email discussion. Most e-forums last two
to three days. Registration is necessary to participate, but it's free.

For information about upcoming e-forums, please visit
http://www.ala.org/core/e-forums

How to Register

The Core e-Forum list is using the discussion list platform called Groups.io
.

You must register your email address to subscribe to or access an
electronic discussion list on ALA's Mailing List Service. Once you have
registered for one e-forum, you do not need to register again, unless you
choose to leave the list. Find instructions for subscribing and
unsubscribing online. (
