Assistant Librarian in Electronic Resources & Systems

Charleston Southern University invites applications for a service-oriented Electronic Resources & Systems Librarian with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2022. Reporting to the Director of the Library, this position is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty member in the L. Mendel Rivers Library. Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, committed to our mission to promote academic excellence in a Christian environment as well as the integration of faith in learning, leading, and serving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  *   Serve as primary administrator and technical lead for the Ex Libris Alma/Primo shared library service platform (SLSP) in the context of a statewide academic library consortium (PASCAL).
  *   Manage access to databases and other e-resources; provide training, technical support, problem/access resolution; administration of OpenAthens.
  *   Compile statistical and usage statistics for use of e-resources annually and by request.
  *   Participate in Reference Desk coverage.
  *   Assist with collection development.
  *   Maintain awareness of best practices and developments in academic librarianship.
  *   Participate in service to the University through committees as assigned.
  *   Participate in service to profession through state, regional, or national activities.

Qualifications:


  *   Earned MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
  *   Experience managing electronic library resources as well as management of user authentication.
  *   Experience in administration of an integrated library system (ILS) such as Ex Libris Alma.
  *   Experience using library research resources in all formats, physical and electronic.
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  *   Overall proficiency with computers, software, library technology, and electronic resources.
