Detailed Description:

The University of San Diego’s (USD) Copley Library welcomes applications
for Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian.  This 12-month
tenure-track faculty position serves onsite in Copley’s newly renovated
library.

The University of San Diego’s Copley Library seeks an energetic and
enthusiastic individual for a 12-month tenure-track Electronic and
Continuing Resources Librarian position. Reporting to the Dean of the
University Library and working under the direction of the Head of
Collections, Access, and Discovery, the Electronic and Continuing Resources
Librarian is responsible for the acquisitions and management of print
serials and electronic resources, including databases, journals, and ebooks
for Copley Library. The librarian prepares e-resources and print serials
workflow documentation and procedures, and trains and supervises two staff
positions. The Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian serves as
liaison to one academic department.

The Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian manages e-resources and
print serials cataloging and holdings records for Copley Library and serves
as the library’s main resource for bibliographic access related to
e-resources/print serials issues. The librarian works with all liaison
faculty in identifying, negotiating terms, and ordering journals and
databases for USD Faculty. The librarian gathers and disseminates
statistical and other value-related data regarding e-resources, print
serials, and annual statistical surveys for library faculty and
administration. The Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian works
with the Head of Collections, Access, and Discovery and the Library Budget
Manager on matters related to acquisitions and budget management of
electronic resources and print serials. The Electronic and Continuing
Resources Librarian will stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices
in the field. This librarian will collaborate on other services and new
initiatives with the Copley Library faculty, as well as serve on library
and university committees.

The Electronic and Continuing Resources Librarian has faculty status and
builds a record of progressive scholarly and professional achievement to
fulfill the library requirements for reappointment, tenure, and promotion,
including participating in e-resources and serials related professional
organizations.
Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

   - ALA accredited MLS or MLIS is required.
   - Ability to work fully onsite at the University of San Diego campus
   - Experience with relevant library software, including holdings
   management and proxy authentication
   - Ability to analyze data and prepare statistical reports in multiple
   formats
   - Experience communicating with vendors
   - Experience facilitating technical changes that may affect user access
   to e-resources
   - Experience with procuring, licensing, and managing e-resources and
   print serials
   - Experience with the processes of ordering, receiving, and payment to
   vendors
   - Experience with budgetary tracking principles
   - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment or individually;
   able to lead as well as execute collaborative projects
   - Knowledge of copyright related to e-resources and serials
   - Record of active membership in professional associations and
   scholarship (presentations and publications) to meet reappointment, tenure,
   and promotion criteria

Preferred Qualifications:

   - Two years or more of related experience in an academic library
   -  Supervisory experience
   - Ability to collaborate and work with library faculty and staff and
   faculty in academic departments
   - Experience with Innovative Sierra, EBSCO, OCLC EZProxy, and SUSHI
   - Experience with LibGuides and other SpringShare products
   - Familiarity with cataloging and classification standards and tools.
   - Experience with consortia
   - Knowledge of new scholarly publishing models
   - Experience teaching information literacy classes and workshops
   - Experience serving as a liaison to an academic department
