*Special Collections Cataloger (Fairbanks, Alaska)* - Do you enjoy Alaska
history? Do you love cataloging and precise, detail-oriented work? The
University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Elmer E. Rasmuson Library seeks a
Special Collections Cataloger to catalog some of our most extraordinary,
rare and one-of-a-kind items according to local and national cataloging
standards. This position serves the Alaska and Polar Regions Collections
and Archives by providing original cataloging for film, oral history
recordings and archives materials, and contributes to digital access of
collections. You’ll work with knowledgeable curators and friendly and
supportive colleagues to share our amazing collections with the world.

Minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree or 2-years’ experience working
in a library, and training in cataloging. This is an onsite, full-time,
12-month staff position starting at a minimum of $23.84 ($49,587 annually).

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Cataloging expertise: Advanced knowledge of: Anglo-American Cataloging
Rules 2; Library of Congress Rules, Rule Interpretations; USMARC Format for
Bibliographic Data; Library of Congress Subject Headings and Classification
schedules; RDA; TGM; Dublin Core. Expertise in database querying. Knowledge
of archival cataloging standards such as EAD or DACS.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
2+ years library or archives experience, preferably in a special
collections environment.

MIN. REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Bachelor's degree OR 2-years experience in libraries, and cataloging
training.
