Core webinar: Promoting Transparency and Collaboration Between Colleagues
Through ER Activation

Date: Wednesday, March 2, 2022

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.

This is the third session in a four-part series regarding Metadata &
Collections.

Description: Deployed over the summer, our new workflow utilizes tools
available to increase transparency about the electronic resources
acquisitions process. Technical Services worked with subject librarians to
create a workflow that both got Acquisitions all the information needed to
license or trial new resources while providing a space for subject
librarians to work on resource descriptions and use a new tagging system to
identify resources with full or partial access. In this session, I’ll go
over our development process and discuss the first few months of use,
noting both positive and negative outcomes.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this webinar, attendees will:

1. Be able to apply ideas and concepts heard to implement a new electronic
resource workflow at their institutions;

2. Understand why involving subject librarians in an electronic resource
activation process is beneficial to both librarians and users; and

3. Understand how increased organization can ease internal burdens and
increase transparency with stakeholders.

Who should attend?

Anyone with an interest in the topic can benefit from this session and is
welcome to participate.

Presenter:

Cara Calabrese is the Acquisitions & Access Librarian for Miami University
Libraries (MUL), where she acquires content and supports electronic
resources. Previously she was an ERM Librarian for UW-Madison and is a
former Resident Librarian. She is a member of several Core Committees,
including the Technical Services & Systems and Budget & Finance committees,
and is the current New Members Round Table Treasurer.
