Mississippi State University seeks a dynamic and innovative leader for the Collection Management & Strategy division of the Mississippi State University Libraries. The Collection Management & Strategy division includes faculty, professional staff, support staff and student workers housed within several units: Metadata & Monographic Cataloging, Special Projects & Serials Cataloging, Acquisitions & Collection Development, Electronic Resources, Thesis & Dissertation Format Review, and Collection Development & Special Projects.
The Collection Management & Strategy division is committed to creating and maintaining an accessible, inclusive, and patron-centered environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Directly supervises the unit level leaders of Metadata & Monographic Cataloging, Special Projects & Serials Cataloging, Acquisitions & Collection Development, Electronic Resources, Thesis & Dissertation Format Review, and Collection Development & Special Projects
* Reports to the Dean of Libraries
* Serves as Ex-Officio on MSU University Libraries Committee
* Conducts ongoing engagement with scholarship and professional service
* Participates in administrative and strategic planning for the MSU Libraries as part of the Library Dean's Council and Library Administrative Committee.
* Coordinates the division's activities with other units within the Libraries, such as Research Services, Access Services, and Archives & Special Collections
Minimum Qualifications:
* ALA-accredited MLS, MIS, or equivalent degree
* Record of achievement sufficient for appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor with tenure
* Record of contributing to the profession via research, presentations, publications, and service
* Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of equity, diversity, and inclusion
* Demonstrated ability to cast vision and set priorities in a research library setting
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate and innovate for the development of new ideas and initiatives
* Demonstrated ability to advocate and serve as a voice for Collection Management & Strategy at the library administrative level
* Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication between a variety of stakeholders
* ABDs or degree pending considered (all but DISS)
