New York, NY and Chicago, IL – Docuseek and Women Make Movies today announced a strategic partnership to develop and expand the availability of the highest-quality documentary films for education. A classic selection of films from Women Make Movies – comprised of major-award winning films, including both new releases and films never available for streaming before – will be available for educational streaming exclusively on the Docuseek platform by May 1.

For over 45 years, Women Make Movies has been championing women filmmakers and their stories, supporting women producers and directors from the beginning and planting the seeds for a diverse and inclusive filmmaking landscape. As the world’s leading distributor of independent films by and about women, Women Make Movies amplifies historically ignored voices and challenges the mainstream media.

Docuseek provides exclusive educational streaming access to more than 1800 essential independent, social-issue and environmental films from Bullfrog Films®, Icarus Films (including The Fanlight Collection and dGenerate Films), Kartemquin Films, National Film Board of Canada, First Run Features, KimStim, First Hand Films, MediaStorm, Scorpion TV, Nerds Make Media, Terra Nova Films, Viewpoint Productions, Deckert Distribution, Film Movement, The Films of Anand Patwardhan and The Global Environmental Justice Documentaries Collection. The addition of films from the Women Make Movies collection will help advance Docuseek’s commitment to making films available from an increasingly diverse group of filmmakers.

Kendra Hodgson, Director of Strategy & Innovation, Women Make Movies, said, “Docuseek has extensive experience in educational streaming distribution and the technology behind it, and they have a reputation of being sensitive and responsive to the unique needs of librarians and faculty members. Equally important to us, they understand and prioritize the needs of filmmakers. It is part of our mission to ensure the voices of diverse women filmmakers are included and featured on major streaming platforms, and we are excited to work with Docuseek to expand the reach and audiences of WMM films.”

Alex Hoskyns-Abrahall, Vice President of Docuseek, LLC, said, “From support for women filmmakers through to distribution of some of the most-powerful documentary films ever made, Women Make Movies is a leader in independent film. The importance of Women Make Movies to the documentary genre and film landscape cannot be overstated. We are thrilled to welcome new distributing partner Women Make Movies to Docuseek.”
