Core webinar: The First 90 Days: A New Manager Crash Course (free
Preservation Week webinar!)

Date: Wednesday, April 28, 2021

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11 am Pacific, noon
Mountain, 1 pm Central, and 2 pm Eastern time.



Description: The Community Archiving Workshop (CAW) model has always been
intended to engage both trained professionals and anyone with home movies
or other creative works stored on film, video, audio, or digital media
objects. This webinar will give an overview of the history of the CAW
committee, explain the basic workshop model, and summarize current work
through grant-funded projects which are building heavily on the original
workshop model and pushing it forward to focus on long-term preservation
planning assistance and tools.

Learning outcomes:

At the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

   -

   Understand where CAW came from, how the committee operates, and what the
   basic workshop model is
   -

   Learn about current grant-funded projects and how these efforts are
   utilizing and expanding the original CAW model
   -

   Feel empowered to utilize the model for their own purposes, or be
   interested enough to connect with the CAW committee and brainstorm some
   community archiving strategies and/or event ideas

Library professionals, archivists, and the general public

Presenter:

Marie Lascu is a graduate of NYU’s Moving Image Archiving and Preservation
(MIAP) program. She attended her first CAW workshop in 2010, and has been a
member of the CAW core group since 2014. She is the audiovisual archivist
for media non-profit Crowing Rooster Arts, and project manager for Regional
Media Legacies, a MIAP project focused on hidden media collections on Long
Island. She is also a member of the NYC-based XFR Collective.
