Shenandoah University is seeking applications for an Electronic Resources
Librarian to join the staff of the Alson H. Smith, Jr. Library.  This is a
full time, 12-month benefited position.

The University has three physical locations, with the main campus in
Winchester, VA and instructional locations in Loudoun County, VA (Scholar
Plaza) and in Fairfax, VA (INOVA Center for Personalized Health).  The
University Library supports academic degrees at each of those locations as
well as a growing online presence.  The responsibilities of the position
are:



·      Provides principal oversight of subscriptions for library online
databases and journals.

·      Serves as a liaison to database vendors, serials publishers and
consortia to manage licenses and contracts, and to implement access to
electronic resources.

·      Resolves problems arising from the use of electronic resources,
proactively manages technical and administrative changes and responds to
end-user reported issues with licensed electronic resources.

·      Coordinates with the administrator of LibGuides CMS and the
Technical Services Librarian for Worldcat Discovery.

·      Tracks and analyzes usage statistics, in coordination with other
librarians, providing required information for the university
administration and for library professional organizations such as iPEDS and
ACRL.

·      Demonstrates leadership by identifying and staying abreast of
emerging education and linking technologies, related e-resource and
bibliographic standards, interoperability and other technical issues
relating to the acquisition, licensing, access and usage of electronic
resources.

·      Incumbent uses OCLC Worldshare Management Services (WMS) Collection
Manager to manage digital collections and contracts; manages EZProxy
authentication, configuration and troubleshooting; oversees and manages
Ebsco serials subscriptions in all formats.

·      Participates in Sunday afternoon reference service on a five-week
rotation schedule.



Requirements and expectations: ALA-accredited master’s degree in
library/information science is required. Additional subject master’s degree
in business or a social science discipline taught at Shenandoah is highly
desirable.  At least 3 years of experience in academic library electronic
resources or technical services is required. Demonstrated knowledge and
experience with library electronic resources, licenses, subscriptions and
technical management. Experience with EZProxy software, Worldcat Management
Services (WMS), and LibGuides LMS is essential. Expected: Excellent
organizational and analytical skills, as well as communication,
presentation and technology skills.  Awareness of and ability to adapt to
current trends in library and information systems is assumed.



Librarians at Shenandoah University are members of the faculty and are
expected to meet university requirements for scholarship and
service.  Librarians are expected to apply for a Career Contract following
a five-year probationary period. This position reports to the Director of
University Libraries.
