Digital Services Librarian
Lilly Library at Wabash College invites applications for the position of Digital Services Librarian beginning mid-July/early August 2019.
We are interested in applicants with a minimum of three years of directly relevant professional experience with digital initiatives and library websites. In assuming this new position in our small academic library, the successful candidate will serve as the key point of contact for a wide host of digital initiatives. The immediate priorities are website development/architecture and digital collections/exhibits. Areas for future development may include open education resources (OER), institutional repository/born digital materials, and scholarly communication (including open access and copyright). This position may include associated faculty status based on the candidate's educational background and pedagogical commitments. This is a full-time, salaried position.
Librarians are part of the teaching community at Wabash-providing both information literacy instruction as well as occasional teaching in the classroom. The successful candidate should be enthusiastically committed to teach undergraduates in a liberal arts setting with a diverse student body and to develop close relationships with a supportive team of colleagues.

Duties
Provide expertise and leadership to promote campus-wide awareness and participation in the following initiatives in support of teaching, learning and research at Wabash College:
* Website Development/Architecture
o Design and continuously improve the library website's architecture and accessibility
o Explore and provide virtual services, including social media and virtual reference
* Digital Collections/Exhibits
o Formulate strategies, policies, procedures and best practices for digital projects and digital preservation
o Curate college born-digital and electronic collections, plus promotes on social media and websites
o Assist Wabash community in planning effective, innovative and sustainable digital projects/exhibits
* Open Education Resources (OER)
o Provide outreach and education on open access scholarship and affordable course content
* Institutional Repository/Born Digital Materials
o Initiate the institutional repository, plus develop and maintain necessary infrastructures
o Steward locally produced content, including media, student projects, and faculty publications.
* Scholarly Communication (including Open Access and Copyright)
o Instruct faculty members about assessing the scholarly impact of their research and scholarship through the use of journal, author, citation, and alternative metrics
o Provide outreach and education to faculty and staff around scholarly digital publishing issues including publishing choices, publishing agreements, copyright, fair use, and open access
* Other duties as assigned, including reference, instruction, and collection development
Qualifications
* Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program (MLS or MLIS)
* Minimum of three years of directly relevant professional experience with digital initiatives and library websites
* Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated commitment to service and continuous professional development
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience with
o Web technologies (including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, content management systems, and APIs)
o Web design standards and accessibility requirements
o Digital scholarship tools, technologies, and platforms (such as Omeka or ContentDM)
o Metadata standards, especially Dublin Core and MARC
o Open Educational Resources (OER) and/or open publishing
o Curating and promoting institutional repositories
o Copyright and its implications in digital collections and author's publishing agreements
o Explaining technical information to a non-technical audience
o Providing support in an academic library environment
o Working independently as well as collaboratively in teams
o Project management/planning/prioritization experience
