[Eril-l] Migration from Sierra (or Millenium) ERM to CORAL

An additional point I forgot to add in my previous reply is that as usual, there will be a CORAL Users Group meeting at the upcoming ER&L conference. It meets the morning of 5 March and will be led by my CORAL SC colleagues, Eric Hartnett (Texas A&M) and Scott Vieira (Rice). If anyone is interested in this topic and plans to attend ER&L, that would be a good opportunity to voice your interest and to perhaps learn more.

We usually have a similar event at the NASIG annual conference as well. That conference will be held 5-8 June at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA, and although the schedule isn’t set yet, if a CORAL Users Group meeting is arranged, it is usually scheduled for 1-3p on the first day of the conference (5 June).

Hello Angela, Robert, and others,

Unfortunately I can’t address specifics for how to import or migrate data from Sierra or Millenium. However, I can point out that we in the CORAL Steering Committee (CORAL SC) are strongly interested in ensuring that CORAL is better able to connect or interact with a variety of ILSs where possible. This work began over the last year or two with Koha integration, but our hope is to ensure the ability to interact with other ILSs.

I don’t know if that helps but thought it worth mentioning.

Steve (chair, CORAL SC)

Hi, Robert.

KU has been reviewing the current landscape of system tools for the past year, including CORAL. While we do not have CORAL and have no definitive plans for system changes at this time, I may have some information that would provide some additional context. You or others on the list can let me know that’d be most useful to share on or off list.

Hello,

We are considering moving our ERM data into CORAL from Innovative’s Sierra ERM. Have anyone done this? Are there any major pitfalls? Is there anything we need to know that might make the process smoother? I see CORAL does have some good documentation (http://docs.coral-erm.org/en/latest/<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdocs.coral-erm.org%2Fen%2Flatest%2F&data=02%7C01%7Caroads%40ku.edu%7Ca57054fbd70d4f081f1e08d691089520%7C3c176536afe643f5b96636feabbe3c1a%7C0%7C1%7C636855863439734650&sdata=CguPlqHW%2BEzXQJo3iburtFWQYeLbJ5fdhGRNuJH1IFk%3D&reserved=0>) but was hoping to get some insight into our particular situation.

Thanks!
