[Apologies for cross-posting.]
Bates College seeks applications for a two-year (with optional one-year
extension) Electronic Resources Resident Librarian. This residency position
provides an opportunity for an entry-level librarian to explore and gain
professional experience as an academic librarian.
The Electronic Resources Resident Librarian position is allocated half-time
to technical services and electronic resources, reporting to the Associate
College Librarian for Collection Management and Scholarly Communications.
The remaining half-time is distributed among other areas within Information
and Library Services. The Resident Librarian will spend the first six
months rotating through various functional areas of the library, archives,
and curricular technology. After the initial rotation is complete, the
resident will commit the remaining half-time to the functional area(s) of
their choice.
The Resident Librarian is encouraged to actively engage in research,
scholarship, and professional activities, and will be supported in pursuing
professional development opportunities and in honing skills for future
employment. The Resident will have access to a broad network of supportive
colleagues and will be provided with both library and campus mentors. The
Resident will also have the opportunity to attend professional conferences
and Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Diversity Alliance
residency cohort meetups.
Ladd Library is working to achieve Bates’ institutional commitment to a
diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus by participating in ongoing campus
equity and inclusion training and internal library programming. Ladd
Library is a member of the ACRL Diversity Alliance, dedicated to increasing
the hiring pipeline of talented individuals from traditionally
underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Early-career professionals from
groups historically underrepresented in Library and Information Sciences
are strongly encouraged to apply.
