HI:

We use mediated tokens via ACS….our interlibrary loan tech controls the access…..seems to work for us. Although we still maintain a base subscription with ACS……….

Hi Jill,

We use tokens. We started with 150, and then upped it to 250, but have since backed off and are using 150 tokens once again. Once they are gone, they are gone. Tokens never last the entire year.

In 2014 we had an alarming run on our tokens. We found out from our ACS rep that someone blew through 77 of them in early January by going on a viewing spree of the ACS Symposium Series ebook collection. Our Collection Development Librarian reached out to the department to instruct them in the use of tokens.

It’s not ideal. I wish there was a better option for us.

HTH,
lgw

Hi All,

Has any one who works at an institution of higher education in the U.S. with an accredited Chemistry program canceled their ACS subscriptions and just gone to a token model for access?

Curious to know if this has worked for anyone?

If not, has anyone regardless of Chemistry program accreditation, used the just the token program with ACS titles & if so, how do you think it works for you?

Thanks in advance for any information provided.

-Jill
