Electronic Resources Management Librarian
The J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte is seeking an Electronic
Resources Management Librarian to help manage the life cycle of our
electronic resources including maintaining the electronic resources
management system ALMA, updating the our discovery system index, collecting
and analyzing usage statistics, marketing the library’s e-resources,
addressing access issues, and other tasks related to the management of the
libraries vast electronic resources collection.
Essential Duties:

Manage the e-resources life-cycle of the library’s subscriptions and
purchases of electronic materials within the workflows of the Collection
Services unit.

Liaise with library vendors, in relation to setting up trials,
licensing, acquisitions, and training.

Manage the Electronic Resources Management system within Ex Libris Alma,
including adding vendor, licensing, access rights, and other information
related to the library’s electronic resources.
-
Maintain the Primo Central Index and address any access issues related
to the Primo Discovery Service.
-
Collect and analyze usage statistics for the library’s electronic
resources with the assistance of the Collection Development Specialist.
-
Create strategies, in consultation with library liaisons and the
Collection Development Librarian, to enhance marketing of the library’s
electronic resources to increase usage.
-
Troubleshoot electronic resources’ access issues when they arise,
particularly related databases, ebooks, streaming media, and other
specialized resources.

Manage communication about electronic resources within the library, the
university, and the larger community.

Work closely with the Electronic & Continuing Resources Librarian and
the Collection Development Librarian on other tasks related to electronic
resources management as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
-
Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from a program
accredited by the American Library Association.

Graduation with master’s degree in a specialized area directly relevant
to the position description may be an acceptable substitute in certain
situations if approved by the Dean.
Preferred Education, Skills and Training Experience:
-
Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent from a program
accredited by the American Library Association.
-
Minimum of two years of experience in an academic library, preferably
working with electronic resources and/or in technical services.
-
Understanding of the electronic resources life cycle as described in the
NASIG Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians.
-
Experience working with vendors and publishers.
-
Knowledge of trends in library technology and electronic resources
management.
-
Experience with statistical standards such as COUNTER and SUSHI.
-
Experience working with an Electronic Resources Management System and
Integrated Library System, such as Ex Libris Alma.
-
Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
-
Commitment to engage in an active program of scholarship and
professional service.
-
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills,
including web-based outreach.

Intellectual curiosity and adaptability.
