The ALCTS Collection Management Section invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 2019 ALA Midwinter Conference in Seattle, WA. This session will take place on Sunday, Jan 27, from 4–5pm.


Theme: Developing Collections in a Dynamic World: A Discussion of Changing Ideas, Roles and Organizational Structures



We are seeking proposals for short presentations that address any of the following topics:

·        Collection philosophy and strategy, including how your library defines and serves the information needs of users

·        Any changes in the use or development of business models relevant to collection development such as the expansion of patron-driven acquisitions or mediated document delivery

·        Centralized vs. distributed collection development, including the roles of different units in making decisions and conducting operations relevant to collection development

·        Organizational change or realignment of priorities in your library that impact collection development such as a greater or reduced role for liaison librarians in selecting information resources

·        The creation of new positions with responsibilities relevant to developing or managing collections of information resources

Proposals from all types of libraries are welcome.
