The 2018 Charleston Library Conference is pleased to announce that our Call
for Pre-conferences and Seminars is now open, with a proposal submission
deadline on Friday, April 27.

These in-depth learning sessions range from a half day to two days in
length, and will be held on Monday and Tuesday, November 5 and 6. The
Charleston Vendor Showcase will take place on Tuesday, November 6, and the
main conference will be held Wednesday through Friday, November 7 - 9. Our
theme for 2018 is from Percy Bysshe Shelly’s poem "Ode to the West Wind:" *Oh
Wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?*

We are seeking proposals for hands-on, practical workshops that will offer
a deeper, more thorough look at topics related to collection development
and acquisitions. We are also open to proposals for post-conference
sessions to be held on Friday or Saturday, November 9 or 10.

About the Conference: The Charleston Conference is an annual gathering of
librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and
vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, to discuss issues of
importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of
individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a
non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of
companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions
librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection
development librarians, and many, many others. Begun in 1980, the
Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to over 1,800
in 2017.
