Title: After Cancellation: Reconstructing Knowledge Bases With OpenRefine

Presenter: Angela Galvan
Library Electronic Resources Manager
Brown University Library

In 2018, electronic resources staff at Brown University Library realized a full rebuild of their ScienceDirect holdings in Serials Solutions would be necessary following a significant cancellation. The library's new electronic resources manager discovered the knowledge base for this resource was maintained by hand before decaying over time. This presentation shows how we used OpenRefine to make the ScienceDirect KBART file readable to Serials Solutions.
Title: Land of Confusion: Provisioning Electronic Access in an Increasingly Complex Information Ecosystem
Presenter: Jonathan Shank
Acquisitions & E-Resources Librarian
Northwestern University
Feinberg School of Medicine
Galter Health Science Library & Learning Center
j-shank at northwestern.edu

As the demand for electronic access expands and diversifies, license agreements and access entitlements are becoming increasingly more convoluted and difficult to manage. Northwestern University's Galter Health Sciences Library & Learning Center operates in a complex, multi-tiered licensing environment. Not only do we license our own materials for the medical school, we also partner with campus libraries on institutional and consortia licenses, in addition to brokering access on behalf of affiliated hospitals within a larger academic health system. This session will discuss the methods that we currently employ for managing access in such a complicated environment (public notes, IP groups, proxy groups, web authentication, & custom discovery tool configurations) and will look towards the future at new developments and initiatives that could potentially streamline access management and the user experience (browser extensions, centralized IP management, RA21, etc.).

Title: Streamlining E-Resource Troubleshooting
Presenter: Elyssa Gould
Electronic Resources Librarian
University of Tennessee - Knoxville
egould1 at utk.edu<mailto:egould1 at utk.edu>

In 2017, the Resource Management unit at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville sought to combine e-resource troubleshooting (locally referred to as 'eproblems') into one system. Previously, each staff had answered troubleshooting questions via personal email accounts, a group email account, and a Springshare LibAnswers account. To allow for better efficiency, service, and tracking of e-resource reporting and troubleshooting, the unit examined several ticketing systems as well as determined statistical categories from Goldfinger & Hemhauser's 2016 article titled "Looking for Trouble (Tickets)" to aid in future analysis of e-resource troubleshooting tickets. The statistics gathered will better inform the unit's training, training others in the library, and better communicate with our vendors about ongoing, long-term access issues. This talk will outline the steps taken to assess ticketing systems, set up the statistical categories, and train staff on the new procedures, as well as an analysis of the first year of using the system ultimately chosen and next steps.

Thank you,
Anne
