How Technical Services Can Help Save Students Money
Since the Fall of 2016 the University Libraries Technical Services Department at UNC Greensboro has provided e-textbook access from the bookstore textbook adoption list for our students every semester. This is an extensive project that takes many hours and staff members to achieve. Acquisitions librarians met with the bookstore to work out a systematic way of receiving the textbook adoption list. This presentation will address the issues such as acquiring the titles, linking issues, workflow issues and how we communicated the purchases to faculty and students. This program has provided a substantial amount of savings for students across campus.

Technical Services productivity during a state budget crisis: one library's assessment story
This presentation is about assessing the productivity of Technical Services staff when the primary duties of acquiring, cataloging, and processing was impacted by a significant decrease in the library budget due to a state budget crisis. Productivity assessment had never been done before and this presentation will highlight the steps taken and the challenges that were encountered in order to remain productive when no new materials were being purchased. The goals of the assessment were to demonstrate the value of Technical Services when its primary duties changed and to aid in hiring of staff for this vital department.

Followed by a brief business meeting.
