How Open Are You?
A discussion about the inclusion of Open Access resources in collection management

The volume of Open Access (OA) publications is growing, and incorporating OA resources into library collections is becoming increasingly important; but with over 11,000 journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals alone, how does one go about selecting, managing, and promoting journals relevant to a library's collection?

Jill Emery, Collection Development & Management Librarian at Portland State University, and co-author of a forthcoming publication with Graham Stone and Peter McCracken on streamlining OA workflows in electronic resources management, will lead a discussion on the intricacies of incorporating OA resources into a library's collection development policy, managing OA resources, and promoting OA resources to library users.

This session promises to be informative with plenty of time for questions and answers. Attendees will gain an understanding of how to include OA in collection development policies, create selection criteria for OA materials, and promote OA resources. Attendees will also learn about access levels as they relate to OA resources.

Speaker:
Jill Emery
Collection Development & Management Librarian, Portland State University
